I agree this isn't a political space, but this unusual occurrence has at least shown the stripes of the jackboot racist pretenders. You turn honor into dishonor and love into hate with the Z-rated scenes you create - if you can't love the US and this world, leave it.

Not sure if GD or Garcia did this song, but if people can't listen to our flawed modern saints, how can they be the master of their domain:

There ain't no room
For the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just
To save his own
Have pity on those
Whose chances are thinner
Cause there's no hiding place
From the Kingdom's Throne

So people get ready
For the train a-comin'
You don't need no baggage
You just get on board !
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels humming
Don't need no ticket
You just thank, you just thank the Lord

Dire: Be a good Christian and turn the other cheek on the ranting, naive one. You have bigger fish to fry. I offer my logic below. Rest easy and don't forget to take your pain medication.

1. He/She is not a Dead head, I would guess a member of the Boy George Fan Club. (See we're all homophobic, too.)

2. Is not from Texas... or would be dead, in the real sense.

3. Has not considered military service as a career.

4. Does not vote, because it's an evil right wing ploy.

5. Cuts and pastes all his/her comments from far left propoganda webzines.

6. Masturbates left, types right.

7. Wouldn't know an Islamofascist if it bombed his/her house.

8. Needs sympathy. Which can be found in the dictionary between shit and syphyllus, don't come looking for it here.

the jackboot racist pretender- (i'm rubber, they're glue...)
i've generally hated everything quite equally and I HATE (there i go) boots.
The one post by Earl P, quoting Churchill, replaced many rants.
Let's *them* and us smoke a peace pipe and forgive the past, if possible. Crop dusting a war zone with pixie dust does appeal to me, but...I'm for keeping this GD forum about GD & Music. I, for one, will attempt to post only after i become a mellowfellow. Merrily-merrily-merrily-merrily- life is but a dream.

any one seen the little tykes?

Look what's happenin' down the street,
got a revolution got to revolution!
Now I'm dancin' down the street,
got a revolution start a revolution
This generation got soul
Our generation got sold

Now it's time for you and me

Volunteers of America

Lost the lyric sheet, but the words are scorched into my dna.

The Grateful Dead politics were more about social change and freedoms on a day to day reality, from the 1967 bust that made headlines and got them a press conference...
To the Harry Reasoner "Hippie Temptation" tv special where Garcia and Lesh talked about moving the world ahead a step, or half a step.

Mainly, the Dead's politics have been about freedom to persue happiness rather than tearing down the wall.

Their alliance with Bob Dylan and other folk music left the door open for songs with messages such as Morning Dew (anti-a-bomb), yet of the many Dylan /folk songs they covered, none were along the lines of...
Masters Of War
It's Alright Ma I'm Only Dying
Ballad Of Malcom X
John Birch Society Blues
The Woody Guthrie Communist Party Massacre
My Little Red Book
Drugstore Truck Drivin' Man
Hippie From Olema
Revolution #9
Eve Of Destruction

One of their only topical songs was New Speedway Boogie. That I recall.

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater (Fortunate Son), Jimi Hendrix (Machine Gun, Isabella),
Mothers Of Invention (Trouble Comin' Everday), Turtles, Donovan, Byrds and other artists as old as the Dead, performed political songs, perhaps more such songs than the GD.

Are politics anethema to the extended Dead family?

Excerpt from Garcia interview:

Q: "The Grateful Dead got started at a time when rock bands were getting political. How do you feel about bringing politics into music?"

GARCIA: "That always used to scare me. It's tough when somebody takes a topical stand and makes their work political, even if the nature of the politics is to say 'give peace a chance,' it's like what you're doing is you're entering in the war game whether you like it or not. Your saying, 'give peace a chance' is like saying forget about war for a while, which is really like saying remember war. Back in the sixties when everybody was either on one side or the other, we [the GD] used to spend all our time avoiding being on one side or the other, because in that particular game there's only one side, and any energy that you give to the idea of war, is war, you know. And it's all war, and the best thing to do is to drop the whole notion. I mean fighting about war is just like fighting about [?], fighting about peace. A war is a war, a fight is a fight, and a struggle is a struggle, and if you put yourself in that position you're going to have to pay the dues, and so as far as I was concerned, it was always. That's why we never wrote any anti-war songs. It's because like why participate on any level, why give war any energy. Any energy you give it, glamorizes it; any energy you give it, even to say that it's a bad trip."

Hey Now(Perky Intro) - Here's one thing I know.

When we talk about music, there's alotta, "amen brother"s and "well said"s and "thanks for the tip, I'll check it out"s. You know, compliments and cooperation. I really don't care if people talk politics here, but for the posters who have become my "GD archive homies", is this as fun as "best SOTM"? I think not. I get plenty of news shouved down my gullet, I come here to escape. So, if it's political(GD politics excluded), I probablt won't read it. Deal? Or should I say, best "Deal" ever? Some '71 "Deal"s are hot...
